Movie Review - Vanvaas

Plot

The movie Vanvaas delves into the complex relationship between parents and their children, highlighting how some children go to extremes to abandon their elderly parents for financial gains. The narrative captures the disconnect between generations as the story unfolds, focusing on a father with dementia who is abandoned by his family. An outsider, a small-time crook, decides to care for him, leading to unexpected transformations in their lives.

Acting

Nana Patekar's performance as the father battling dementia is commanding and deeply impactful, bringing life to the character. Utkarsh Sharma delivers a sincere performance as the small-time crook, although his accent at times detracts from authenticity. The supporting cast, including Simratt Kaur, Rajpal Yadav, and Ashwini Kalsekar, provide solid performances, adding depth to the story.

Cinematography

Kabir Lal's cinematography beautifully captures the scenes through Varanasi, enhancing the storytelling with visually engaging shots. The visuals add depth and emotion to the narrative, bringing out the setting and mood of the film effectively.

Direction

Director Anil Sharma's work is commendable, but the execution falls short in delivering an engaging narrative . The film's pacing feels sluggish at certain points, affecting the overall engagement of the viewers.

Conclusion

Vanvaas aims to portray a poignant story about the abandonment of elderly parents and the unlikely bonds that form in unexpected circumstances. While the performances, especially by Nana Patekar, hold the film together, the writing and direction could have been more polished to evoke stronger emotional connections with the audience. Overall, Vanvaas offers a relevant watch but misses the mark in delivering a truly resonant cinematic experience.
