Movie Review: Dream Girl 2

Plot

Dream Girl 2 follows the story of Karamveer, who pretends to be a girl, Pooja, in order to make quick money. He takes up a job as a bar dancer and gets caught up in a series of bizarre situations when four people pursue Pooja/Karam for marriage. The film revolves around Karam's attempt to fulfill his girlfriend's father's condition of making Rs 25 lakhs in six months, leading to chaos and comedy.

Acting

Ayushmann Khurrana skillfully switches between playing both Karam and Pooja's characters, shining in the dance sequences and delivering some of the best parts of the film. Nushrat Bharucha steps into her role as Mahi convincingly, while Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Vijay Raaz, Paresh Rawal, Seema Pahwa, and Rajpal Yadav offer commendable support.

Cinematography

The cinematography of Dream Girl 2 is decent, capturing the colorful and chaotic world of Agra. The film effectively uses visuals to enhance the comedy and showcase the vibrant dance sequences. The camera work complements the fast-paced nature of the film.

Direction

Raaj Shaandilyaa's direction falls short in comparison to the original Dream Girl. The sequel relies heavily on familiar territory and often strays into unnecessary comedic tangents. The narrative goes haywire and ends up as a mishmash of situations and characters pursuing each other. The film fails to recreate the quirky charm of its predecessor.

Verdict

Overall, Dream Girl 2 is a disappointing sequel that fails to live up to the charm and originality of its predecessor. The film relies on outdated comedy routines and fails to bring anything new to the table. While Ayushmann Khurrana's performance shines, it is not enough to salvage the film from its weak script and direction.
