Plot
Aar Ya Paar is an eight-episode series that tells the story of Sarju, a tribal man who transforms into an assassin to protect his people from the merciless modern world. When a mining company threatens the livelihood of the self-sufficient Degohaati tribals, Sarju embarks on a mission to save his people. The story is set in the misty hills and waterfalls of Jagdalganj and takes an engrossing turn once Sarju is on his revenge mission.Acting
Aditya Rawal and Ashish Vidyarthi are the lifeblood of the series. Rawal excels in his action scenes, and Vidyarthi is brilliant at portraying a menacing character. Dibyendu Bhattacharya also plays his part convincingly. However, the supporting cast, such as Shilpa Shukla, Vaarun Bhagat and Sumeet Vyas, have very little to contribute to the series. Even Patralekha Paul’s character, Sanghamitra Das, falls short in terms of an emotional curve.Cinematography
The series is set amidst misty hills and waterfalls, nestled amongst thick jungle trees, and the cinematography earns it some plus points. Even the costumes and makeup are flawlessly executed to make the tribal people look authentic.Direction
Sidharth Sengupta, who has previously directed gripping thrillers such as Apharan, Undekhi, and Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein, comes up with an intriguing story that pits tribal people against the modern world in a struggle to survive. Sengupta should be appreciated for thinking differently and creating an engaging series that will keep you entertained throughout.Overall Verdict
Aar Ya Paar is an out-of-the-box concept that is flawlessly executed and features some stellar performances. However, the series misses the mark when it focuses too much on Sarju's individual quest for vengeance instead of exploring the plight of the tribal community. Despite its flaws, Aar Ya Paar is an engaging series that is worth a watch.Share this review
