Apharan 2: Sabka Katega Dobara - A Wickedly Funny Crime Thriller

Plot

Cop of all cops, Rudra Srivastava, is back on the streets, but this time in Serbia. Recruited by R&AW for a covert operation, Rudra is hellbent on resigning from his post but caves in when a R&AW agent blackmails him into saying yes to the secret mission. The show revolves around Rudra, who learns that the mission is a trap laid out for him. The story is hilarious, engaging, and high on nostalgia, packing a solid punch because of its treatment and execution.

Acting

Arunoday Singh shines throughout the show, drawing you in and keeping you hooked to the story. He adds zing to his character with his interpretation of an angry-young macho man from the 1990s. Nidhi Singh plays her part well, and Saanand Verma and Snehil Dixit Mehra deliver impressive performances, upping the humour quotient. The chemistry between the actors is organic and keeps the viewer entertained.

Cinematography

The cinematography of Apharan 2 is visually stunning and transports the viewer to Serbia. The locales are breathtaking, and the visuals enhance the viewing experience. The makers have managed to create a world that is both gritty and beautiful, and the viewer is engrossed in the show's world.

Direction

Director Santosh Singh and his band of writers have done an excellent job, adding a few twists and turns to the story. While the storyline isn't new, the comical aspect of the narrative alongside crisp timing makes the viewer stay on for more. The homage paid to Bollywood heroes, the masala-ness of it, to its nostalgic music, and the magic that makes Bollywood oh-so-Bollywood is evident throughout the show.

Overall Verdict

Apharan 2: Sabka Katega Dobara is a modern-day masala entertainer, high on humour and nostalgia. The show's treatment and execution are commendable, and the actors deliver solid performances. While the storyline may not offer anything extraordinary, the suspense is built up until the climax. The show is hilarious, interesting, and a good weekend binge-watch. It pays tribute to Bollywood heroes, and the masala-ness of it all makes it an entertaining watch. The show is streaming on Voot Select and is a must-watch for fans of crime thrillers and masala entertainers alike.
