Review: Berlin - A Money Heist Spin-off

Plot

The spin-off series, Berlin, based on the notorious character from Money Heist, fails to capture the essence that made the original show a fan favorite. The plot revolves around Berlin leading a heist to steal jewels from Frances biggest auction house. However, the writing and storytelling lack the compelling twists and turns that kept viewers hooked in the original series.

Acting

Pedro Alonso reprising his role as Berlin gives a lackluster performance compared to his captivating portrayal in Money Heist. The other characters of the gang also fail to impress, with borrowed versions of characters from the original series lacking the charm and depth of their predecessors. The performances, while decent, are overshadowed by dull writing and uninspiring character development.

Cinematography

The production value of Berlin is commendable, with the series capturing the beautiful scenic locations of Paris. The visuals are aesthetically pleasing, but often feel disconnected from the overall plot and fail to contribute significantly to the storytelling.

Direction

The direction of Berlin falls short when compared to the original series. The lack of focus on character relationships and interpersonal dynamics, which were a highlight of Money Heist, leaves the spin-off feeling uninteresting and disconnected. The attempt to humanize Berlin's character feels forced, and fails to capture the complexity and intrigue surrounding him.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Berlin, the spin-off from Money Heist, fails to live up to the hype and excitement generated by its predecessor. While the series boasts high production values and visually appealing cinematography, the lackluster plot, underdeveloped characters, and poor direction result in a subpar viewing experience. Fans of Money Heist may find Berlin to be a disappointment, as it lacks the gripping storytelling and compelling character dynamics that made the original series a success. But if you dont compare it from the original series and watch it as a fresh series then it might not disappoint you.
