Delhi Crime Season 2 Review

Plot:

Delhi Crime Season 2 follows DCP Vartika Chaturvedi and her team, who are tasked with solving a series of gruesome attacks on senior citizens. Evidence points to the infamous Kachcha Baniyan gang, which has not been active for two decades. The police face public scrutiny, media interference, personal battles, a corrupt system and hierarchical pressures while trying to catch the killers.

Acting:

Shefali Shah, who plays DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, is the standout performer, delivering a commendable performance. Rajesh Tailang's convincing act as Bhupender Singh and Rasika Dugal's portrayal of Neeti Singh are equally impressive. Anurag Arora, Gopal Datt and Sidharth Bhardwaj also play their parts convincingly. Special mention to Tillotama Shome, whose intense act as Lata Solanki will leave you amazed.

Cinematography:

The production is meticulously detailed, and the performances are excellent. The camera work by David Bolen captures the city with all its seediness and glamour. The handheld camera movement in chase sequences shot at night adds to the overall atmosphere.

Direction:

American filmmaker Tanuj Chopra takes over the reins as director from Richie Mehta and doesn't miss a beat. He keeps the sensibility American (non-dramatic), heart Indian, and retains the pulse of the series while recreating the unnerving tension.

Writing:

Mayank Tewari and co-writer Ensia Mirza's writing is interesting, making you watch these cops from afar while becoming a part of the investigation. The dialogues by Sanyuktha Chawla and Virat Basoya are hard-hitting and set the pace from the get-go.

Overall:

Delhi Crime Season 2 is a must-watch, with its nuanced portrayal of conflict and characters dealing with the repercussions of systemic casteism. The police procedural is dark and gritty and keeps you hooked. The power of the series is that it is rooted in reality, highlighting the difficulties of policing the lifestyles of the wealthy and the aspirations of the less privileged.
