Review: Dobaaraa is a well-crafted time-travel thriller that keeps you on edge

Plot:

Dobaaraa is a Hindi adaptation of the Spanish film Mirage. The story revolves around Antara, a nurse who moves into a new house in Pune with her husband and daughter. One night, while trying to save a boy from the past through a TV set, she accidentally changes her present and finds herself in a new reality. The film explores the consequences of time travel and alternate realities.

Acting:

Taapsee Pannu shines as Antara in the lead role. She delivers an impressive performance and flawlessly portrays the confusion and fear of her character. Pavail Gulati also impresses with his nuanced performance as DCP Chandan. Rahul Bhat is unexpectedly funny in the role of Antara's cheating husband. Saswata Chatterjee, however, is the weakest link in the cast.

Cinematography:

Sylvester Fonseca's cinematography is impressive and captures the mood of the film perfectly. The use of lighting and shadows adds to the eerie atmosphere of the film. The visuals are sharp and clear, and the camera work is seamless.

Direction:

Anurag Kashyap's direction is the USP of Dobaaraa. He weaves a complex narrative with multiple timelines and dimensions of existence. Kashyap's storytelling keeps the audience hooked and engaged. The film is paced well and easy to follow despite its complexity. The only downside is the second half, which is not as engaging as the first.

Verdict:

Dobaaraa is a well-crafted time-travel thriller that is worth your time. It engages you with its intriguing plot and impressive performances. It is a new take on the genre in Bollywood and is sure to leave you thinking. Though the film has a few flaws, it is still an enjoyable watch. Anurag Kashyap proves once again that he is one of the best filmmakers in the industry.
