Movie Review: Dumb Money
Plot
Dumb Money is a story about the tug of war between Wall Street hedge fund billionaires and retail investors erupted from the changes in American video game retailer GameStop's stocks. The movie revolves around the win and lose stories around this war and marking the value and impact of retail investors in the financial world.
Acting
Paul Dano, portraying Keith Gill, is phenomenal in showcasing emotional roller coster ride with his performance in the film. He represents a common man, who is committed to work for his small family's financial well-being. Pete Davidson also does a good job in supporting the Dano's character, and America Ferrera and Seth Rogen also justify their roles and are really good.
Cinematography
The film's cinematography effectively captures the overall sentiment of people of America when it comes to showing what is really important. Representation of online conversations with posts, comments and memes had been used effectively.
Direction
Craig Gillespie's direction shows his skills to present every character's emotion and screen presence as per the scene requirements. He picked up the right cast and chose right entertainment formula while making the movie. He ensured that every scene has got something to connect and make it enjoyable.
Review
Overall. Dumb Money is a good watch but it lacks the excitement that could have been added for this kind of story. The movie does the justice in showing real life events around the hedge funds. Despite some shortcomings, Dumb Money keeps its audience engaged throughout the movie and makes it worth a watch.
