Faadu: A Love Story Review

Plot

Faadu: A Love Story follows the story of Abhay, a slum dweller who dreams of becoming wealthy and providing for his family, and Manjiri, a small-town girl who sees poetry in everything. Despite their different outlooks on life, they fall in love. The series explores if Abhay can change his fate and if their love can survive. The show has a slow pace and revolves around two basic concepts: "your destiny is in your hands," and "opposites attract, but it takes a lot of effort to make the relationship work.”

Acting

The cast delivers a mostly competent performance. Pavail Gulati and Saiyami Kher have endearing on-screen chemistry and their portrayal of Abhay and Manjiri's dilemmas is well-done. Abhilash Thapliyal and Deepak Sampat also stand out in supporting roles.

Cinematography

Shot in real locations, including Mumbai slums and Konkan, the show has an authentic feel. The background score is heartfelt and complements the story perfectly.

Direction

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, known for her good storytelling in Bollywood films like Bareilly Ki Barfi and Panga, presents the age-old romance formula of "opposites attract" with a fresh approach. However, the slow pace and stretched narrative make it tedious to watch.

Overall Verdict

Despite having a good premise and competent actors, Faadu: A Love Story falls short due to its slow pace and stretched narrative. The characters are well-developed, and the dialogues are witty and meaningful, but the screenplay drags, making it difficult to watch at times.
