Plot

The story is all about the mysterious circumstances around the death of Albert Pinto, with a focus on uncovering whether his death was due to natural causes or if there was someone who was playing with the setup. The police procedures are poorly depicted, with laughable investigation techniques and shaky camera work. The story remains focused on finding out what happened to Albert.

Acting

Sanjay Kapoor shows some mild interest in his role, while the rest of the cast delivers forgettable performances. Simran Kaur Suri's quirky character comes off as annoying, and the lacklustre script hampers the delivery of lines, making the actors' efforts seem forced and inauthentic.

Cinematography

The visuals of the film attempt to mimic Western murder mystery shows like Twin Peaks and Broadchurch but fall short of creating any intrigue. The slow and insufferable unfolding of the murder mystery leaves the viewer disinterested in the conclusion. The lack of substance in the visuals and the absence of mystery in the murder detract from the overall viewing experience.

Direction

Director Saumitra Singh's bland and vacuous direction fails to engage the audience. The attempt to create forced drama with red herrings results in incoherence between the writing and direction. The sluggish investigation process and lack of chemistry between characters make the film appear disjointed and unconvincing. The overdramatization of scenes and situations adds to the overall lack of substance in the storytelling.

Conclusion

House of Lies is an unsuccessful attempt at a murder mystery that could not deliver as per the expectations from a murder mystery. With a poor script, poor direction, and ok type performances, the film falls short of creating intrigue or excitement for the viewer. Despite its brief runtime, the movie remains an insufferable watch that lacks substance and fails to leave a lasting impact.
