Jahaan Chaar Yaar: A Dull Film about Female Bonding

Plot

Jahaan Chaar Yaar is the story of four middle-class housewives—Shivangi, Mansi, Neha, and Sakhina—who embark on a Goa trip to break free from their mundane lives. However, their vacation leads to a series of life-changing events that alter their perspectives forever.

Acting

The camaraderie between Swara Bhaskar, Meher Vij, Shikha Talsania, and Pooja Chopra is endearing. Swara as Shivangi stands out with her flawless performance and perfect UP accent. Pooja delivers an impressive act, while Shikha and Meher Vij pull off their roles with ease.

Cinematography

The cinematography of Jahaan Chaar Yaar is average, with nothing exceptional to mention. The scenic beauty of Goa has been captured well, but it fails to add any charm to the story.

Direction

Writer Kamal Pandey makes his directorial debut with Jahaan Chaar Yaar and tries to highlight the significance of women having their own identities and voices. However, the film lacks depth in each character, making it difficult for the audience to feel for them. The story starts on an interesting note, but the film soon loses its lustre and becomes dull and predictable.

Verdict

Jahaan Chaar Yaar is a decent attempt at female bonding films but falls short of expectations. The film could have done better with a little more detail in writing and depth in characterisation. If you go in without any expectations, Jahaan Chaar Yaar is watchable, but don't expect it to break new ground in female-headlined films.
