Plot

In "Jigra", the story revolves around Satya, played by Alia Bhatt, who is determined to free her younger brother Ankur, portrayed by Vedang Raina, after he is wrongly implicated in drug charges on a remote Southeast Asian island called Hanshi Dao. The film explores Satya's emotional journey as she goes on a mission to save her brother from a death sentence. While the premise had immense potential, the narrative becomes chaotic and one-dimensional, focusing more on stylized action rather than substance.

Acting

Alia Bhatt delivers a must-watch performance in "Jigra" as she convincingly portrays a range of emotions, from anger and helplessness to resilience, while executing death-defying stunts with elan. Vedang Raina also shines in his role as Ankur, capturing the essence of a brother in distress. Manoj Pahwa's portrayal of Satya's accomplice adds depth to the film, making his character standout. While the acting performances are commendable, the chaotic narrative and focus on presentation reduces the overall impact of the film.

Cinematography

Cinematographer Swapnil S Sonawane and action director Vikram Dahiya excel in delivering slick and well-executed stunts and action sequences in "Jigra". Sonawane's use of color and hues enhances the struggles between the siblings, while Achint Thakkar's sentimental score set the tone for the film. The cinematography adds to the overall intensity and atmosphere of the movie.

Direction

While the film showcases impressive action sequences and highlights of the Alia's character as emotional sister but the narrative's depth and execution dampens its impact. Bala's control over the film's visuals and action scenes is commendable, but a more streamlined narrative would have elevated the film even further.

Conclusion

"Jigra" offers audiences a taut thriller with emotional depth at its core. Alia Bhatt's powerful performance and the visually impressive action sequences make the film a thrilling watch. However, the issues with narrative and focus on style impacts the execution of the overall movie. Overall, "Jigra" is a commendable addition to Alia Bhatt's repertoire, showcasing her range as an actor, but falls short of delivering a truly gripping revenge drama.
