Kaalkoot follows the life of Ravishankar Tripathi, a rookie cop working in a small town in Uttar Pradesh. When he is tasked with investigating a grisly acid attack, his career and personal life take a dramatic turn. The show delves into the complexities of the case and tackles societal issues such as toxic masculinity, male chauvinism, and domestic abuse along the way.
Acting
Vijay Varma delivers a stunningly authentic performance as Ravi Shankar Tripathi. From his observance of the toxic mindset of men to his gradual empathy for women, Varma brings depth to his character's coming-of-age story. Shweta Tripathi Sharma shines in her role as the acid attack survivor, Parul, infusing her performance with sensitivity and emotion. Seema Biswas and Gopal Datt also provide able support in their respective roles.
Cinematography
The visuals in Kaalkoot are gut-wrenching and handled with a touch of realism. The cinematography captures the gritty and dark atmosphere of the small town setting, adding to the intensity of the narrative.

Director Sumit Saxena skillfully builds up the drama with suspense and thrill, keeping the audience engrossed throughout. He navigates the dense script, which is filled with social commentary, without veering into preachy territory. Saxena's direction keeps the story engaging and thought-provoking.
