Plot

Director Shubham Yogi’s Kacchey Limbu tells the story of Aakash Nath (played by Rajat Barmecha), a talented and passionate cricketer who dreams of making it to the Indian cricket team. His younger sister, Aditi (Radhika Madan), lacks focus in life and is struggling to find a goal to strive for. When Aakash challenges Aditi to form a team and beat him in a local tournament, the story takes a turn, and the film becomes about proving your sibling wrong. The plot revolves around sibling dynamics and self-discovery.

Acting

Radhika Madan delivers a sweet and endearing performance as Aditi, who is on a journey of self-discovery. Rajat Barmecha plays Aakash, Aditi’s older brother, and is a great supporting character to her. Madan and Barmecha both nail the tug-of-war between sibling love and rivalry, and the chemistry between Madan and Ayush Mehra eases us into their eventual roles as teammates. Mehra is charming as Kabir, but his character is not well-etched out.

Cinematography

The film’s setting is realistic, and the cricket team hunt is believable. The matches played between the characters are entertaining and not overly sports-heavy. The film uses middle-class insecurities and parental expectations as a backdrop and adds a layer of relatability.

Direction

Director Shubham Yogi’s first feature film, Kacchey Limbu, is a light and feel-good entertainer that will keep you entertained throughout. By anchoring it with a compelling story about the sibling dynamic and self-discovery, Yogi has crafted a film that anyone can resonate with. However, the characters could have been fleshed out more.

Overall Verdict

Kacchey Limbu is a light-hearted sibling drama that will leave you with a smile on your face. The film’s themes of self-discovery and sibling dynamics are well written, and the performances, especially by Madan and Barmecha, are impressive. While the film lacks depth and intensity to state a point, it is an enjoyable watch for anyone looking for a feel-good entertainer.
