Liger: A Stammering 'Sports Drama' That Fails to Deliver

Plot

Liger promised to be a rags-to-riches MMA story, but the movie is a mix of commercial cinema with a love story, martial arts, and mindless action. The plot is a rehash of other movies with nothing new.

Acting

Vijay Deverakonda does justice to his role, and his physical transformation is commendable. However, his stammering act becomes over the top at times. Ramya Krishnan's acting is loud but manages to make the character interesting. Ananya Panday fails to impress, and Mike Tyson's role adds no value to the story.

Cinematography

The film's visuals are stylish, but they fail to hold the viewers' interest for long.

Direction

Puri Jagannadh's direction fails to deliver a satisfactory conclusion to any of the tracks, and the script lacks focus.

Verdict

Liger joins the long list of films that blame women for men's distractions. The film is poorly written, and the team seems to have spent more time on promotions than on the script. Liger could have been a much better film if the team had focused on the story instead.
