Plot:

Maja Ma tries to explore the journey of a woman coming out to her family and finding acceptance. However, the film fails to offer anything new. The plot is predictable, and the makers could have delved deeper into the subject, making it a more intriguing watch. The film tries to take the conversation around LGBTQIA+ forward but ends up falling short.

Acting:

Madhuri Dixit is the highlight of the film, carrying it on her shoulders and delivering an impactful performance. Gajraj Rao also delivers a flawless performance. Simone Singh, in her brief role, manages to stand out and steals the show with her wit and charm. However, the supporting cast, including Ritwik Bhowmik and Srishti Shrivastava, fail to leave a lasting impact.

Cinematography:

The film has a beautiful setting and captures the vibrancy of Gujarat during Navratri well. The camerawork is neat, but the film's slow pace feels tedious at times.

Direction:

Anand Tiwari's direction fails to elevate the material beyond mediocrity. The film tiptoes around the topic of LGBTQIA+ without taking a bold enough stance, making it feel half-baked.

Conclusion:

Overall, Maja Ma is a disappointing watch, despite some strong performances. The film tries to take the conversation around the LGBTQIA+ community forward but falls short with a predictable plot and lackluster direction. While Madhuri Dixit shines on screen, the supporting cast struggles to make an impact.
