Review of Mister Mummy
Plot
Mister Mummy is about Amol and Guglu, a couple who have opposing views on having babies. However, both of them become pregnant at the same time due to a condition known as ‘Couvade Syndrome.' Although interesting conceptually, the way it's presented leaves a lot to be desired. The film's biggest comedic plot point relies on ridiculing a man with a baby bump, making it confusing and fails to entertain its audience.Acting
Genelia D’Souza, as Amol's wife Gugglu, is a treat to watch on screen again. However, her dialogue delivery seems forced and half-baked. Riteish Deshmukh, whose comic timing is impeccable, struggles to save the sinking ship.Cinematography
The film is shot apathetically on lovely British locations.Direction
Director Shaad Ali, who has also co-written the film with Ananya Sharma, tries to add value and depth to the story. However, the majority of the scenes are repetitive, making it a lengthy watch. Most of the humor is forced, and aside from Amol's conversations with himself, nothing makes you laugh.Overall
Mister Mummy is neither a comedy nor an emotional drama. The film could have explored a lot more with the material at hand, but Shaad Ali ends up losing out on this opportunity. Definitely not worth watching.Share this review
