Pop Kaun Review: Politician's Son on a Mission to Find His Real Father

Plot

Sahil is a politician's son who loves to name-drop his father in every conversation, until he discovers that he was adopted and embarks on a journey to find his biological father. The show's sub-plot takes a dig at society's obsession with a person's father's identity.

Direction

Director Farhad Samji, known for his Bollywood comedies, debuts on OTT with Pop Kaun. The show has some funny moments but it fails to keep up the pace as the story progresses.

Acting

The show's cast is a mix of veterans and newbies. Kunal Kemmu gives an earnest performance in the lead role but fails to leave a lasting impression. Nupur Sanon looks promising in her OTT debut but is overshadowed by the legendary comic timing of Satish Kaushik, Saurabh Shukla, Johnny Lever, and Rajpal Yadav. Jamie Lever steals the show in every frame.

Cinematography

Pop Kaun is shot well, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Overall Verdict

Pop Kaun tickles your funny bone with its lame jokes and comedy throughout, but it falls short on the intriguing plot front. The sub-plot is the highlight of the show, taking a dig at society's obsession with fathers' identities. The talented cast isn't fully utilized, and the show doesn't live up to its laughter-riot potential. While Pop Kaun is a passable comedy-drama, it's not a must-watch show. If you're looking for something light and funny, you can give it a try.
