Samrat Prithviraj Movie Review

Plot

Samrat Prithviraj is based on the story of King Prithviraj Chauhan, who goes to battle with Muhammad Ghori to protect his land and people. The film follows the journey of the king from a warrior to a human being, and what led him to the battlefield. The movie's primary aim is to showcase the virtues of a Hindu king committed to his religion and country.

Acting

Akshay Kumar plays the role of King Prithviraj Chauhan, and his efforts to dive deep into the character are visible. Manushi Chhillar, who makes her debut in the film, delivers a confident and fine performance. Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood add a lot of weight to the narrative, and their characters stand out.

Cinematography

The production design and costumes work well in tandem to create an authentic feel to the film. The battle scenes are shot well, but the VFX could have been used more skillfully.

Direction

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi does a fine job in keeping the narrative clean and focused. However, the focus dwells slightly in the woman-power subplot more than it needed to, taking away from the primary story of the film. Moreover, the dialogues suffer from inconsistency, but the director does a fine job in keeping it engaging.

Overall

The film is simplified for the audience to understand and engage with, but it lacks the grandeur seen in other historical dramas. Although the movie has a well-performed cast and a visually striking canvas, it falls short in character development, historical accuracy, and soul. Nonetheless, it is a well-directed family drama with enough to keep you invested and entertained.
