Saroj Ka Rishta Review: A Half-Hearted Attempt at a Comedy

Plot

Saroj Ka Rishta tells the story of Saroj Sharma, a confident and self-assured young girl who decides to undergo body transformation to marry her childhood love, Vikram. However, things take a turn when Vikram lands up unannounced in Ghaziabad, and Saroj finds herself torn between him and gym trainer/photographer Shantanu.

Acting

Sanah Kapur shines as Saroj, delivering a confident performance and portraying the character's emotional journey with depth. However, Gaurav Pandey and Randeep Rai's characters feel underdeveloped and fail to connect with the audience on an emotional level. The standout performance comes from Kumud Mishra, who plays Saroj's supportive father with ease and steals every scene he's in.

Cinematography

The film boasts some beautiful cinematography, capturing the heartland of India with finesse. The romantic songs are also visually appealing, adding to the film's overall charm.

Direction

Abhishek Saxena's direction fails to elevate the material, and the screenplay and dialogue fall flat. The film moves at a slow pace, and the comedic moments lack the necessary punch. The editing could have been tighter, and the film could have done with some more light-hearted moments.

Overall

Saroj Ka Rishta had the potential to be a classic Hindi comedy, but it falls short of expectations. While Sanah Kapur impresses in the lead role, the film's underdeveloped supporting characters and sluggish pace mar the viewing experience. However, the film's heart is in the right place, showcasing how good parenting can make girls confident and self-assured, regardless of their physical appearance. If only the execution matched the concept.
