Plot

The Gone Game Season 2 picks up from where it left off in the previous season, with Suhani (Shriya Pilgaonkar) seeking to prove her husband Sahil (Arjun Mathur) is alive. However, she is soon murdered, leaving the Gujral family in a bind. CBI officer Sharmila (Harleen Sethi) investigates and puts the family under 'hotel arrest.' Sahil is revealed to be alive and on the run. The season follows the investigation into Suhani's murder while Sahil tries to flee the country.

Acting

Shweta Tripathi Sharma and Shriya Pilgaonkar carry the acting load, while Sanjay Kapoor, Rukhsar Rehman, and Arjun Mathur are adequate but don't have much to do. Halreen Sethi fails to make an impact, and the rest of the supporting cast looks bewildered.

Cinematography

The show's cinematography is nothing exceptional and doesn't live up to the standard set by the original season, which had the actors shooting the show themselves. There are few standout shots or creative camera work.

Direction

Directed by Abhishek Sengupta and written by Radhika Anand, The Gone Game Season 2 fails to capture the magic of the original. The plot is mediocre, and the pacing is often slow. While the first season experimented with the pandemic's lockdown, the second season abandons the novelty and falls into age-old tropes and plotlines.

Overall Verdict

The Gone Game Season 2 is a lesson in how not to mess up the memory of a good show with pointless extensions. The second season is an out-and-out murder mystery that's often slow and predictable, with unnecessary plotlines and poor writing. While some performances stand out, they can't redeem the season's overall mediocrity. Binging on it may be worth it given its short runtime, but it can't hold a candle to other OTT crime thrillers.
