Plot

The miniseries Trials by Fire follows the story of Shekhar and Neelam Krishnamoorthy, who lost their children in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy. The series portrays the parents' journey to try and bring justice to not just their children but to the 59 others who lost their lives.

Acting

The casting in the series was pretty impressive, with Abhay Deol and Rajshri Deshpande portraying phenomenal performances as the parents fighting for justice. The supporting actors, including Anupam Kher and Ratna Pathak Shah, were cast well, but their characters arc-lines were not exploited to the fullest potential.

Cinematography

The series captures the gloomy and depressing atmosphere well. Some of the scenes in the series appear to be very authentic, and the final episode is exceptionally executed, leaving viewers gasping for breath.

Direction

Prashant Nair and Randeep Jha did a great job in portraying the journey of the Krishnamoorthys' fight for justice realistically.

Overall Review

The series is a must-watch as it highlights the consequences of negligence, greed, and the fight for justice. The series holds the viewer's attention right from its beginning, but towards the later episodes, the execution of the story seems lackadaisical. The series could have turned out better if the loose-ends and the focus on the larger fight were improved.
