Middle-Class Love Review

Plot

Middle-Class Love is a coming-of-age romantic comedy that revolves around Yudi Sharma (played by Prit Kamani), who aims to escape the middle-class lifestyle that he loathes so much. He believes that dating wealthy girl Sysha Oberoi (Kavya Thapar) and attending an elite college is the ideal way to achieve it. In the story, a love triangle unfolds when Aisha Tripathi (Eisha Singh) comes into their lives, but things are not as simple as they appear.

Acting

Prit Kamani is a standout performer, delivering an honest portrayal of a young man eager to break free from his middle-class background. Eisha Singh is equally outstanding in her role as Aisha, displaying a mixture of sensitivity and charm. Although Kavya Thapar is a debutant, she holds her ground and looks every bit the wealthy, classy spoilt girl. The veterans, Manoj Pahwa, and Sapna Sand, deliver robust performances that hold the fort.

Cinematography

The film beautifully captures the picturesque location of Mussoorie, enhancing the coolness factor of the film. The good production design adds to the authenticity of the characters and settings.

Direction

Ratnaa Sinha, who previously directed Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017), instills all the necessary ingredients for a successful rom-com and bromance. She beautifully weaves the story around love, unconditional friendship, and filmy drama making the film a treat to watch.

Overall Verdict

Middle-Class Love is unpretentious, heart-warming, and a fun watch. Although the screenplay might not offer anything new compared to other rom-coms, it has some humour and relatable situations that both middle-class people and the youth can identify with. The dialogues are funny and relatable to our daily life, which makes the film all the more enjoyable. The film is a light-hearted coming-of-age story that every college-going middle-class kid can relate to.
