Code Name: Tiranga Review

Plot

Code Name: Tiranga follows the story of Durga, a special agent tasked with capturing Khalid Omar, the mastermind behind the 2001 Parliament attack. She develops feelings for Dr. Mirza Ali while carrying out the mission. The film explores whether Durga will jeopardize the mission for her love or complete it successfully.

Acting

Parineeti Chopra delivers a powerful performance as Durga with her action sequences and determination to shape her action avatar in a credible manner. Harrdy Sandhu and Parineeti Chopra's on-screen pairing is endearing though Sandhu's character is hamstrung by sketchy characterization. Sharad Kelkar plays the main antagonist and tries hard to give credibility to his role but falls prey to cliched writing.

Cinematography

The action choreography takes the maximum share of credit in Code Name: Tiranga, making the chases and confrontations visually appealing. Cinematographer Tribhuvan Babu Sadineni's work is a delight to watch.

Direction

Director Ribhu Dasgupta fails to craft an engaging thriller due to weak writing chops. The story lacks substance and appears to be a mash-up of many action thrillers. The spy thriller is quite predictable right from the beginning, and it takes a long time to watch because of Durga and Omar's cat-and-mouse game.

Verdict

Code Name: Tiranga falls short of eliciting the desired adrenaline rush despite Parineeti Chopra's overuse of heavy-duty dialogues. The film has all the trappings of a conventional spy movie and suffers from cliched and weak plot lines. While the film isn't a total misfire, it fails to leave a lasting impact on the audience.
