Four More Shots Please! Season 3: A Review

Plot

The show revolves around the lives of four friends - Siddhi, Damini, Anjana, and Umang, who are fiercely independent women dealing with their own set of problems. The season picks up pace with Siddhi Patel’s condolence speech for her father at his prayer meet and soon jumps to their not-so-monotonous lives. But the show sometimes ends up being too heavy on the eyes and mind with underlying problems from the very start.

Acting

The actors are uninhibited and carry on gamely even when so many scenes and lines border on the ridiculous. The performances of Sayani Gupta, Kirti Kulhari, Maanvi Gagroo, and Bani J are impressive. Lisa Ray, who plays superstar Samara Kapoor, manages to become one of the most-looked-forward-to factors on the show. Jim Sarbh delivers a commendable performance, but unfortunately, his role is not meaty enough.

Cinematography

The show is shot in South Mumbai, which gleams with color, light, and glamour, making it look like it’s set in New York. The khets of Punjab and old school buildings add to the beauty of the show. The wardrobe of the characters is always stylish.

Direction

The show has been directed by Joyeeta Patpatia, who has done a good job in presenting the complexities of the modern woman and their daily affairs. The writing by Devika Bhagat, however, is shoddy, making some of the characters’ decisions bordering on the ridiculous.

Overall Verdict

Four More Shots Please! Season 3 is a decent watch. However, the show loses its essence with each passing season. While the dialogues play a major part in the show, it is getting raunchier with time, but certain scenes are hard-hitting and would compel you to hit pause, introspect and fathom. It encourages you to make mistakes, build a smaller but quality-defining tribe who’ll pick you up at your lows and cheer for you at your highs. The opening episode is by far the best, and it has some solid performances by the cast. However, the last three episodes are inexcusably bad, making it feel like the first two seasons all over again.
