Mismatched Season 2: The Good, The Bad, and The Cliched

Plot

Mismatched follows a group of teens at a tech institute in Jaipur as they learn coding and computer programming. The show focuses on the romantic relationships and entanglements, particularly between Dimple and Rishi, and also touches on issues such as alternate sexuality, social media toxicity, and more.

Acting

The cast of Mismatched is a mixed bag. While some actors give strong performances, others fall flat. Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf, who play the lead characters Dimple and Rishi, come across as disinterested and dull. However, some of the supporting actors, including Muskan Jaferi and Taaruk Raina, are more endearing.

Cinematography

The setting of the upscale tech institute in Jaipur is captured well in Mismatched. The show's affluence is heightened by a mix of young and experienced actors, who essay the roles of rich and privileged people living lives of luxury. However, the show's multiple storylines and characters make it feel cluttered and clunky at times.

Direction

Akarsh Khurana, who also directed the first season, picks up the story two years later. However, Season 2 doesn't add much to the themes explored in the first season, and many of the characters come across as one-note.

Overall Verdict

While Mismatched touches on a range of relatable issues facing young people today, it ultimately falls short in its execution. The characters are interesting in parts, but the show's treatment of their storylines is superficial, and some of the actors struggle to bring their characters to life. However, if you're a fan of rom-coms and don't mind some cliches and predictability, Mismatched Season 2 might be worth a watch.
