Masaba Masaba 2: A Sassy and Glamorous Delight

Plot

Masaba Masaba 2 is a continuation of the first season of the biographical series based on the life of designer-turned-actor, Masaba Gupta. The show follows Masaba as she deals with her personal and professional struggles, from expanding her brand to freezing her eggs and helping her best friend with depression. The second season is focused more on Masaba's work life, intersection with personal life, and the mother-daughter relationship with more depth.

Acting

Masaba and Neena Gupta do an excellent job as usual. Masaba's acting chops remain consistently good, proving that she is her mother's daughter. Despite being around talented actors like her own mother, Ram Kapoor, Neil Bhoopalam, and Kusha Kapila, Masaba manages to shine through, especially in comedic and romantic scenes. Neena Gupta, given more screen space this season, steals a few moments of cuteness and acts her part well.

Cinematography

The new season of Masaba Masaba tries to get more stylish with better music, slicker, glossier visuals, and even better costumes than before. The show's visuals add to the glitz and glamour of Masaba's life, making it a fun and enjoyable watch.

Direction

Co-writer and director Sonam Nair focuses more on Masaba's work life, with personal life constantly intersecting. The writing department overlaps Masaba's real life with her on-show life. The inclusion of the late fashion designer Wendell Rodricks' demise and its impact on Masaba is touching.

Overall

Masaba Masaba 2 is like a good rom-com movie. It's cool, fun, modern, and even though it's got some messy bits, that's okay. The show's narrative takes a more fictional route this time with more dramatic and over-the-top situations. Despite this, it remains relevant and relatable to its target audience. Masaba Masaba 2 is far from perfect, but it still offers hours of Masaba's excellent performance. Watch it for her!
